10 Hotel Style Bathroom Ideas For Your Home

10 Hotel Style Bathroom Ideas For Your Home

There are a few ways to bring part of the holiday experience back with you – for a permanent option, why not have a luxurious and relaxing hotel style bathroom at home?

With enough creativity you could enjoy your own 5 star hotel bathroom from the comfort of your own abode.

Furthermore, you can potentially increase your property value by up to 5% by updating your bathroom – that’s according to The Property Centre.

Read on for a wide range of hotel style bathroom ideas at home.

#1 Themed bathrooms

Hotels give us a place to stay while we explore the world on holiday. So why not replicate a hotel bathroom from your favourite trip abroad?

You could embrace a Moroccan hammam theme complete with arches and mosaic tiles, for example.

Or how about installing a high-tech Japanese toilet that has a seat-warmer and plays music… And did you know that 81% of Japanese household toilets have toilets with built-in bidets?

#2 Ensuite design

Aside from the ones near the lobby, or the pool, and so on, hotel bathrooms are ensuite. So to make a great hotel bathroom at home, think about incorporating classic ensuite features such as:

  • Double basins
  • Big mirrors
  • Sliding doors

We have shared some thoughts previously about how to design modern ensuite bathrooms.

#3 Dimmed bathroom lights

To make your bathroom more relaxing, choose soft lighting. Harsh lights that are too bright are rare in hotel-style bathrooms.

Dim the lights to more authentically replicate a hotel bathroom at home. We’ve recently written about how to change bathroom lights if you need lower wattage bulbs.

#4 Spa-style bathrooms

If you have enough space, why not replicate a spa-style bathroom from a premium hotel?

Consider using:

If that’s a new term for you and want to know – what is a wet room? Check out our guide.

#5 Luxury colours

When you’re in a hotel room, you want to relax. To get the ambiance right, many hotel rooms and bathrooms are decorated in luxurious colours.

So why not do the same. You could add gold touches to units, such as the taps, or even go for gold wallpaper to convey a sense of a luxury hotel bathroom.

Recently we wrote about how to replace a bathroom tap.

#6 Walk-in showers

Not only is a walk-in shower more aesthetically pleasing, it’s more accessible too.

Both of these are reasons why many hotels have walk-in showers. Not only that, but they are more hygienic and easy to clean too.

They are also very affordable – find how about walk-in shower costs here

#7 Shower screens

One thing’s for certain… Designing a hotel bathroom at home means that it’s time to finally throw away that old shower curtain.

Shower curtains catch condensation and when the moisture settles, over time, mould spores build up. Here’s how to get rid of mould in a bathroom.

A better way to keep your bathroom free of mould is to take away the shower curtain for good and put in a shower screen instead. We can also share some tips for cleaning shower glass.

#8 Deep baths

These days, many people are replacing a bath with a shower. But if you want to do the opposite and add a bath to your hotel-style bathroom, you could go for the luxurious option.

A deep, standalone bath is a very relaxing way to unwind after a long day. Add some bubble bath or soothing salts to complete the experience.

If a typical tub has a depth of about 15 inches, a deeper one is more like 20-25 inches deep.

#9 Disability-friendly

But whatever you do, keep accessibility in mind for anyone who needs it. Most hotel bathrooms are disability-friendly to accommodate a wide range of customer needs.

A deep bath will not be the right option for those who need help getting in and out of the bathtub. That is, unless you install a more accessible type, such as a walk-in bathtub, for example.

#10 Modern designs

Above all else, choose a modern design. Relatively new or refurbished hotels will all have modern bathrooms.

Modern fittings such as floating sinks can make all the difference. Check out an example from our gallery to see what we mean.
